Hoosier Hills latest banking institute used in scam calls
Many Dubois County residents woke to their phone ringing overnight as a new round of scam calls hit the area over the weekend.
The automated calls come from the 702 area code — many reported receiving the call from (702) 999-1234 — and pretend to be from Hoosier Hills Credit Union. The automated message tells the victim their credit card or debit card has been suspended or cancelled. The call then directs the victim to enter their account information to reactivate the card.
Authorities recommend hanging up on unsolicited suspicious calls.
