Homer Helderman, 94, Petersburg

Homer Helderman, 94, of Petersburg, passed away on November 29, 2025, in Evansville.

He was born on December 30, 1930, to Oliver and Lydia (Maxwell) Helderman in Monroe City.

He graduated from Otwell High School in 1949. Homer worked as an electrician throughout his life. He was a past member of the Pike County Civil Defense Force, of the Petersburg Volunteer Fire Department, and he served in the United States National Guard. Homer was a faithful member of the First Christian Church. His favorite pastime was spending time with family.

Homer is survived by his son, Jerry (Kathy) Helderman; daughters, Lydia (Jerry) Willis and Sarah (Kevin) McKinney; grandchildren, Dustin Willis, Jacy Nicholson, Anderson Willis, David Helderman, Christopher Helderman, Amanda Clauss, and Aaron McKinney; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Homer is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen J. (Hollon) Helderman; and his sister, Pearl Houchin.

Services for Homer will take place at 1 p.m. EDT on Friday, December 5, 2025, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, with visitation from 10 AM EDT until service time. Pastors Tim Padgett and Gary Arnold will be officiating, and burial will follow at Arnold Cemetery in Petersburg.
