Holy Trinity Catholic School transition plans move ahead
The Holy Trinity Catholic School Transition Team held a public update meeting on Wednesday evening at St. Joseph Parish Center in Jasper.
The purpose of the meeting was to give the public an update on the transition of St. Mary’s Ireland, Precious Blood and Holy Family schools to Holy Trinity Catholic School.
On September 25th the Schools announced the combining of the three schools to make one parochial school system.
Also announced was the new school team nickname— the Saints — and school colors — purple, white and gold.
One of the most important issues addressed last night was which grades would be at which campus. It was announced that beginning in the 2015-2016 school year St. Mary’s Campus would still offer pre-school for 3 and 4 year old students.
Precious Blood Campus would offer education for 3 and 4 year old pre-school and grades K through second grade. Holy Family Campus would house students in grades 3 through 8.
The multiple campuses would be supported by all 11 parishes in the Deanery. A study was also conducted showing that 65% of the current population of the schools resides in west and central sections of Jasper while the other 35% reside on the east side of Jasper or from outlying parishes.
Long term growth and an endowment for the Holy Trinity Catholic School were also discussed. Questions have still not been answered concerning who will head up the administration, staffing and transportation of students between campuses.
Those questions will be answered in the near future.
