Boy Scout Troop 185 Scoutmaster Fred Feltner was awarded a Sagamore of the Wabash at the conclusion of a Court of Honor hosted by Boy Scout Troop 185 on Tuesday, November 15.

Feltner was recognized for his 28 years of service to the Holy Family Scouting program. He served as Cubmaster, on a variety of District level offices, and as Scoutmaster of Troop 185 since 1998.

Feltner was one of the founding members of the Distinguished Citizen Award and has remained as an active member of that board for the last 24 years. During his tenure as scoutmaster, he has led 165 members of Troop 185 to complete their Eagle Scout Rank.

State Senator Mark Messmer presented Feltner the award on behalf of Governor Mike Pence at the event held in the cafeteria of Holy Family School.

“I have known and worked with Fred in the Scouting program at Holy Family since he asked me to get involved as a Webelos Leader 27 years ago,” said Senator Messmer at the presentation of the award. “There is no one who exemplifies the characteristics that this award recognizes than Fred Feltner.”

There were about 100 people in attendance at the program including Scouts, their families, and other adult leaders of Troop 185.
