Holland Elementary to have an iPad in each classroom
Holland Elementary received a $2500 grant from Toyota Motor Manufacturing and has decided to purchase five more iPads.
This will allow each classroom at the school to have an iPad. “The iPads are another tool the teachers will have available to use as a resource,” Holland Principal Sarah Bardwell said. “There are many apps available to assist students with certain needs.”
The iPads are also expected to replace aging Palm computers the Holland Elementary teachers use to conduct regular testing for the DIBELS program. DIBELS stands for Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills and is used to measure and aid students in their literacy skills. Teachers conduct skill tests every two weeks to measure students’ progress. “The iPad is easier to use for these skill assessments,” Bardwell said.
The iPads are also compatible with the teachers’ MOBI (Mobile Interactive Whiteboards) that are used in the classroom. Bardwell said all of the technologies are wonderful as teaching aids.
