Holland and Dubois take league leadership with wins on Saturday

From Scott Gladish OSBL President

The Old School Baseball league race is taking shape as Holland and Dubois established leadership roles in the 5 game regular season. Holland beat the defending OSBL champion Winslow Eskimos 2-1 behind the pitching of Brent Wendholt and Jason Barnett, and the pitching and base running of 40 year old Dave Schank who scored the winning run and used his knee buckling curveball to ice the Eskimos for the last 2 innings to get the Save.

The Eskimos 1-1 also got great pitching from Josh McDonald and Bo Daves throwing 6 innings of 2 run ball 1 being unearned but they could not get their offense on track.

The Dubois Jeeps go to 2-0 and looked like the loaded team their roster suggest as they brushed aside the Dale Golden Aces 9-0, Dale 0-2 losing 2 straight for the first time in their 8 game OSBL history.

In the 6pm game Huntingburg got leadership from its captain Dave Marcum on the mound, Marcum pitched 3 complete struck out 5 without giving up a run and the Happy Hunters when on to beat the Ireland Spuds 6-1 with a late flurry of runs breaking up a close game.
