Holiday Liquors Bourbon Raffle nets $10,000 for Scout Troop 185 endowment
Holiday Liquors and Wooden Keg Liquors donated $10,870 to the Boy Scout Troop 185 Endowment from the recently concluded bourbon raffle.
Holiday Liquors and Wooden Keg Liquors has been holding bourbon raffles to support local nonprofits, including The Dove House, Toys for Tots, and Dubois County Special Olympics. Through the raffles, the company has donated $57,000 to these organizations that support our community.
This is the fifth bourbon raffle the company has held in which bourbon enthusiasts are invited to purchase tickets for a lottery to purchase highly sought-after bottles of bourbon like Pappy Van Winkle 20 Year, Rip Van Winkle 10 Year & Family Reserve Rye, Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, Blanton’s Gold and Van Winkle Reserve Lot B 12 Year.
Holy Family Church Troop 185 has been active since 1949 and has helped shape 355 Boy Scouts to become Eagle Scouts over the 75 years it has been around–about 80 to 90 percent of their participants earn the Eagle rank compared to the national rate of 6 percent.
The troop performs hundreds of hours of community service, awards more than 400 merit badges (the highest in the Buffalo Trace Council for 20 consecutive years), spends 36 nights camping, and helps 75 scouts advance in rank each year.
The scout endowment is a reliable long-term source of revenue for the troop and was created as a way to pay it forward to future scouts.
“Supporting this long term source of revenue is critical in fostering the experiences, the positive impact and the values learned in scouting,” said Scoutmaster Fred Feltner in receiving the donation.
Holiday Liquors and Wooden Keg is hosting its sixth Bourbon Charity Raffle, a Right to Buy Lottery, to support Locking Arms for Suicide and Survivors of Suicide. They have 37 bourbons, several super-rare, available in the lottery. You can learn more and see the available bourbons at this link.
