Hilda M. Rahman, 90

Hilda M. Rahman, 90, of Ferdinand, passed away, Sunday, April 6, 2014, at her home.

Hilda was born February 25, 1924, in Ferdinand to Theodore and Anna (Kerstiens) Metzger. She married Linus F. Rahman on August 26, 1947, in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church. Linus preceded her in death on November 4, 2013.

Hilda is survived by four sons, Alan and wife Georgia, Eddie and wife Gloria, Steve and wife Angie all of Ferdinand, and Frank and wife Mary of Santa Claus; Seven daughters, Marcella “Sally” Harpenau and husband Paul of Branchville, Margie Hoffman and husband Dave, Mary Jo Giesler and husband Bill, and Doris Klem and husband Bernard “Butch” all of Ferdinand, Carol Lueken and husband Kenny of Hatfield, Mo., Martha Demuth and husband Charlie of St. Meinrad and Connie Mundy and husband Steve of Jasper; 27 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Hilda was preceded in death by her husband Linus and two sisters, Verena Mehling and Mary Rahman.

Hilda was a member of St. Ferdinand Catholic Church and its St. Ann’s Sodality, Ferdinand American Legion Post 124 Ladies Auxiliary & Ferdinand Daughters Of Isabella. Hilda volunteered at Saint Meinrad Archabbey and quilted for St. Ferdinand Parish. Hilda enjoyed quilting, baking and her family. Her eyes always lit up when the grandchildren and great-grandchildren visited.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. and Thursday from 7-9:30 a.m. at Becher Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Thursday at 10:00 AM in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Condolences may be shared at www.becherfuneralhome.com.
