Hilbert Frank Kunkler, 81

Hilbert Frank Kunkler, 81, of St. Meinrad, passed away September 3, 2013 at The Waters Of Scottsburg in Scottsburg, IN.

He was born September 16, 1931 in Adyeville, IN to Joseph H. and Ottilla (Otto) Kunkler.

He married Rita J. Jasper on June 22, 1957 in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church.

Hilbert was formerly employed at Hoosier Garage in Ferdinand, and was also a farmer. He was a member of St. Meinrad Parish. He was a Korean War Veteran, and a member of St. Meinrad Legion Post 366.

Surviving are his wife Rita J. Kunkler; one daughter, Caroline Mullis and husband Jim of St. Meinrad; two grandchildren, Kristina Nadin and Luke Mullis; two brothers, Jerome Kunkler and his wife Marlene of St. Marks, IN, and Albert Kunkler and his wife Imogene of Ferdinand; and one sister, Lucille Bumm of New Boston.

Hilbert was preceded in death by his parents and twin brothers Edmond and Raymond Kunkler who both died in infancy.

Funeral services are at 10:00 a.m. CDT Friday at St. Meinrad Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

St. Meinrad Legion Post 366 will conduct military graveside rites.
