Highway 64 to close in Huntingburg for railroad crossing work
Huntingburg — Norfolk Southern crews will close State Road 64 for seven days spread over two weeks to replace the railroad crossing just east of U.S. 231.
The S.R. 64 closures will occur in two phases, weather permitting. Crews anticipate closing the crossing at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2 and reopening it on Wednesday, Sept. 3. Crews will then close the crossing the following work week beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 8. The new crossing is expected to be open to traffic by Friday, Sept. 12.
Local traffic will have access up to the railroad crossing, where all lanes will be closed and no through traffic will be allowed. The detour for heavy highway will follow U.S. 231 and S.R. 162.
