Hewitt promoted at popular television network

HewittJasper grad Paul Hewitt has been promoted to executive vice president of Communications for The CW, from his previous senior vice president role.

Hewitt graduated from Jasper High School in 1989. Hewitt earned his bachelor of science degree in psychology from Indiana University in Bloomington in 1993. He is the son of Bill and Pat Hewitt.

The CW Network is a joint venture between Warner Bros. Entertainment and CBS Corporation. The network’s primetime schedule includes hit series The Flash and Jane The Virgin, as well as popular series The Vampire Diaries, Arrow, Reign, America’s Next Top Model, Supernatural, The Originals, Whose Line Is It Anyway? and Beauty and the Beast.

According to a press release from The CW, he will continue to oversee all communications strategies, media relations, program publicity, corporate communications, photo publicity and talent relations for The CW, as well as all internal communications.

Hewitt has worked his way up the ranks since joining the network in 2006 as vice president of Corporate Communications. In that role, he managed The CW’s corporate media relations and communications, including handling trade and business press for The CW’s marketing strategies, digital efforts, ad sales and ratings, as well as executive speechwriting. He was bumped up to SVP Communications, The CW, in 2010.

Prior to The CW, Hewitt was vice president, Communications at UPN from 2003-2006, where, in addition to his duties as corporate communications liaison with the business and trade media, he also helped organize key press events and manage the network’s entertainment publicity staff. He joined UPN in 2002 as director of Corporate Communications.

In 1998, Hewitt served as manager of Corporate Communications at Fox Broadcasting Company. Hewitt first started in television in Fox’s research and marketing department in 1995.
