Herbert “Herb” J. Schepers, 72

Herbert “Herb” J. Schepers, age 72, of Celestine, passed away at 10:17 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2014, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana.
Herb was born on May 24, 1941 in Dubois, Indiana to Henry and Ardella (Theising) Schepers.
He married Shirley Hasenour on May 30, 1964 in St. Celestine Catholic Church in Celestine, Indiana. She preceded him in death on July 13, 2013.
Herb was a retired poultry farmer and truck driver.
He served in the Indiana National Guard.
He was a member of St. Celestine Catholic Church, the Celestine Community Club, where he served as a former officer, the Schnellville Conservation Club, and the Dubois Volunteer Fire Department. He also served on the building committee for the Northeast Dubois High School.
He enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.
He is survived by two sons, Brad Schepers and his wife Giesla, of Indianapolis, and Brennan Schepers and his wife Lori, of Jasper; seven grandchildren, Nicholas, Matthew and Jonathan Schepers, all of Indianapolis, and Zachary, Noah, Hannah and Ben Schepers, all of Jasper; one sister, Monica Jahn and her husband Jerry, of Jasper; two brothers, Ralph Schepers, of Long Beach, Ca., and Harold Schepers and his wife Cecille, of Auburn, Maine.
Preceding him in death beside his wife is one son, Brian Schepers, and one brother, Jerome Schepers.
Funeral services for Herb Schepers will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at St. Celestine Catholic Church in Celestine, Indiana, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
