Herbert H. Fleck, 94, Ferdinand

Herbert H. Fleck, 94, Ferdinand, passed away Friday, May 13, 2016, at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand.

He was born in Ferdinand on April 23, 1922, to Joseph and Agatha (Dall) Fleck. He married Anna Mae Weyer on June 11, 1946, in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church.

Mr. Fleck retired as a partner in Weyer Fleck Painting. He was a founding and charter member of Ferdinand American Legion Post 124. He was a lifetime member of the Jasper Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 673. He belonged to St. Ferdinand Parish and its St. Joseph’s Sodality. He enjoyed his family and grandchildren, hunting, fishing and gardening. He was an avid outdoorsman.

Surviving are his wife, Anna Mae Fleck; two sons, David (Caren) Fleck of Simi Valley, Calif., and Bob (Charlene) Fleck of Huntingburg; one daughter, Annie (Rob) Oxley of Santa Claus; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Martin Fleck, and a sister, Florentine Schnell.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Henry Catholic Church. Burial will be in the St. Ferdinand Church Cemetery. Ferdinand American Legion Post 124 will conduct military graveside rights.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and 7:00 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Becher Funeral Home, Ferdinand.
