Herbert G. Obermeier, 85

Herbert G. Obermeier, 85, of Fulda, passed away July 18, 2013, at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand.

He was born January 13, 1928, to Anton and Martha (Roos) Obermeier in Fulda. Herbert married Marie Kern on May 26, 1951, at St. Joseph Church in Dale.

Herbert retired from Kimball after 35 years. He was a member of St. Boniface Church in Fulda and its Men’s Society, Spencer County Memorial Forest. He enjoyed gardening and was a talented musician who played with numerous bands throughout Dubois, Perry and Spencer counties. Herbert also loved to raise his rabbits.

Herbert is survived by his wife Marie; two sons, Fred and wife Marion of Fulda and Rick and wife Carla also of Fulda; two daughters, Vicky Obermeier of Louisville and Gina Obermeier of Washington, IN. Eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive.

Herbert was preceded in death by a brother James Obermeier.

Visitation will be Sunday from 2-7:00 p.m. CDT at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand and from 9:00 a.m. CDT until service time at the church on Monday.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. CDT Monday in St. Boniface Catholic Church in Fulda. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
