Henrietta M. Schnell, 90, Celestine

Henrietta M. Schnell, 90, Celestine, passed away at 10:50 p.m. Sunday, January 29, 2017, in Northwood Retirement Center in Jasper.

She was born at St. Henry, Indiana on July 15, 1926, to Eberhard and Catherine (Helming) Auffart. She married Arthur Schnell on January 12, 1952, in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Ferdinand.  He preceded her in death on December 24, 2016.

Henrietta was a homemaker. She is a member of St. Isidore Parish – Celestine Campus. She enjoyed playing cards, country music and playing the harmonica.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Voegerl (Randy) of Celestine and Shirley Hagedorn (Linis) of Celestine; son, Allen E. Schnell (Sheryl) of Dubois; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death besides her husband are one sister, Leona Garr and two sisters who died in infancy, Verena and Elnora; also two brothers, Hilbert and Victor Auffart and another brother Robert died in infancy.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2017, in St. Celestine Catholic Church with burial to follow in St. Celestine Cemetery.

Visitation from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Celestine Catholic Church in Celestine.
