Heman P. Oxley, 93

Heman P. Oxley, age 93 of Jockey, Indiana was surrounded by his family at his home as he passed from his earthly mission to join his Savior at 9:10 p.m. CDT, Thursday, July 12, 2012.
He was born on December 13, 1918 to Dennis and Rava (Parker) Oxley in Lane Township, Warrick County. He was married 18 years to Edna (Bredhold) Oxley who died in childbirth in 1961. He later married Charlotte Coomer. Heman retired from Peabody Company – Lynnville Mine in 1981.
He spent countless hours tending to his garden, creating in his woodworking shop and being a devoted family man. He also enjoyed watching Tecumseh Braves basketball and producing his famous peanut brittle. He loved to sing of his Lord and held the position of song leader and sang in the choirs of the churches he regularly attended, mainly Ebenezer General Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death are his first wife, Edna Oxley; a brother, Hugo Oxley; a half-brother, Hollis Oxley; and a half-sister, Helen Head Oxley.

Funeral services for Heman P. Oxley will be held at 11:00 a.m., EDT, Monday, July 16, 2012 at Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Burial will follow in Selvin Cemetery.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home on Sunday, July 15, 2012 from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. EDT.
