Helen R. Jacob, 78, Jasper

Helen R. Jacob, 78, of Jasper, passed away at 9:05 a.m. on Friday, March 11, 2016, at her home.

She was born in Jasper, Indiana on June 12, 1937, to Ben and Francis (Sanders) Hurst. She married Donald Jacob on September 1, 1956, at Mary Help of Christians Church in Mariah Hill.

She set the foundation for hundreds of children at Helen’s Nursery School over a 35-year period. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and their Blessed Virgin Sodality. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Jacob of Jasper; two daughters, Carol Guerra and husband Nick of Orlando, Fla. and Shelly Clark and husband Scott of Jasper; four sons, Dave Jacob and wife Joni of Ireland, Dean Jacob and wife Joan of Jasper, Darrell Jacob and wife Jan of Ferdinand and Dan Jacob of Ferdinand; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Catherine Buechlein and husband Dennis of Jasper,
Dorothy Mehringer and husband Vernon of Jasper and Betty Berth of Jasper; three brothers, Clarence Hurst of Huntingburg, Eddie Hurst and wife Almeda of Mariah Hill and Augie Hurst and wife Gail of Jasper.

Preceding her in death besides her parents was one sister, Marilyn Hile.

Funeral services for Helen Jacob will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 14, 2016, at Holy family Catholic Church with entombment to follow in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper.

Friends may call from noon until 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 13, 2016, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and one hour before services at church on Monday. The Holy Family Blessed Virgin Sodality will pray the rosary at 11:45 a.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
