Helen M. “Pee Wee” Giesler, 75, Ireland

Helen M. “Pee Wee” Giesler, 75, of Ireland, passed away at 9:46 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, in St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Evansville, Indiana. 

Helen was born in Ireland on October 27, 1944, to Karl and Hildegard “Hilda” (Hohler) Mehringer.  She married Edward Giesler on November 26, 1964, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland. 

Helen was a 1962 graduate of Ireland High School. She worked at Dubois County Bank and then Old National Bank for a total of 47 years. She was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland where she was a member and past president of the St. Ann’s Society and member of the finance committee and parish council. She was also on the Ireland Sewer Board. 

She enjoyed quilting, gardening, shopping, cooking, baking desserts, traveling, and collecting cookbooks and Hummel figurines.

She is survived by her husband, Ed Giesler of Ireland; two daughters, Karla (Scott) Wigand of Jasper and Mindy (Scott) Rankert, Plano, Texas; two sons, Blake (Barb) Giesler of La Mirada, Calif. and Kyle (Janet) Giesler of Ireland; 10 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Franny (John) Stamm of Jasper; one brother, Gene (Dianne) Mehringer of Ireland.

Preceding her in death are one sister, Rosemary “RoRo” Elmore and one brother, Norbert Mehringer.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Helen M. “Pee Wee” Giesler will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2020, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2020, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, Indiana, and one hour before services from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the church on Saturday. Masks and social distancing are recommended.
