Helen L. Harpenau, 89, of Dale, passed away, Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper.

She was born August 27, 19

25 in Perry County to John and Ella (Rogier) Naviaux.

Helen married John F. Harpenau on November 5, 1947 at St. Joseph Church in Ranger, Ind. He died on April 13, 1993.

Helen worked at General Electric in Tell City and as a cook at Professional Care Rehab in Dale. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Dale and its Christian Mothers, American Legion Auxillary and Dale Senior Citizens. Helen loved to garden and care for her flowers.

Helen is survived by one son, Mark J. Harpenau and wife Sarah of Santa Claus; two daughters, Marsha Cooper and husband, Raymond, of Dale and Phillis Altmeyer and husband, Larry, of Huntingburg; daughter-in-law, Margie Harpenau of Ferdinand; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren also survive.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband John; three sons, Daniel Harpenau and in infancy Dennis and Steven; two brothers, John and Fred Naviaux; one sister, Bertha Elder.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. CST Friday in St. Joseph Church in Dale with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. CST Thursday at St. Joseph Church in Dale and from 9:00 a.m. CST until service time Friday at the church.
