Helen (Goodpasture) Blackburn Newkirk, 94, Petersburg

Helen (Goodpasture) Blackburn Newkirk, 94, of Petersburg, passed away on August 7, 2025.

She was born to George and Edith Goodpasture in Petersburg, Indiana. 

She was a member of the Petersburg First Christian Church, being baptized on December 19, 2004.

Helen is survived by two daughters, Carol (Dwayne) Austin and Janet (Mark) Meals; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Dennis Blackburn; two sisters; and three grandsons. Also preceding her in death were her first husband of 32 years, Frank Blackburn, and her husband of 19 years, Dello Newkirk.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. EST on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at O.D. Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, Indiana, with burial to follow at Walnut Hills Cemetery. Pastor Tim Padgett is officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. EST until service time at the funeral home.
