Helen Durcholz, age 83, of Jasper, passed away Thursday (May 3, 2012) in Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper.

She was born on September 22, 1928 at St. Meinrad, Indiana to Alois and Cecelia (Schum) Becher. She married Lawrence Durcholz Jr. July 4, 1949. He preceded her in death on April 5, 1995.

Helen worked for Hometown IGA in Jasper and had also worked for Aristokraft in Jasper also worked at the voting poll’s for several years.

She is a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church.

She was an avid fisherman.

Two daughters,

  • Phyllis Schue, Jasper, IN
  • Mrs. Thomas (Kathy) Helming, Ferdinand, IN

Three sons,

  • Mark Durcholz, French Lick, IN
  • Scott Durcholz, Sheridan, WY
  • Patrick Durcholz, Sheridan, WY

14 grandchildren, 4 step grandchild and 20 great grandchildren

One sister,

  • Lucille Knies, Jasper, IN

Preceding her in death besides her husband two brothers, Henry and Ed Becher and three sisters, Stella Brown and Annette Busam, Bernie Wilmus.

Funeral services for Helen Durcholz will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday (May 7, 2012) in Precious Blood Catholic Church with burial to follow at a later date. There will be no visitation at Becher-Kluesner Funeral Homes in Jasper.
