Helen C. Hopf, 85, of Huntingburg

Helen C. Hopf, 85, of Huntingburg, passed away at 1:55 p.m., Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.

She was born October 30, 1931, in St. Henry, Indiana to Paul and Anna (Moeller) Oeding.  Helen was united in marriage to William A. Hopf on April 22, 1950, at St. Henry Catholic Church.  She was a homemaker and a farmer’s wife.  She loved flowers, gardening, embroidering and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Ladies Sodality.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, William, on February 20, 2002; sisters, Cecelia Kerstiens and Rosa Kerstiens;  brothers, Gregory, Leo, Bernard, Roman, Linus, and Ralph “Pete” Oeding;  great-grandchildren, twins Samuel and Aiden Miller.

Helen is survived by thirteen children, Elaine (Ralph) Miller of St. Anthony, Mary Hopf of Holland, Stephen (Jana) Hopf of Celina, Ohio, Kathy (Gary) Hochgesang of St. Anthony, David (Joyce) Hopf of Birdseye, Bonnie (Mike) Hochgesang of Jasper, John (Connie) Hopf of Bretzville, Tom (Kathy) Hopf of St. Anthony, Linda (Rick) Lichlyter of Huntingburg, Kevin (Angie) Hopf of Birdseye, Keith (Susan) Hopf of Kyana, Marvin Hopf of Huntingburg and Beth (Tom) Hollinden of Huntingburg; brother, Edgar (Mildred) Oeding of Jasper; sister, Marie Gessner of Ferdinand; by 32 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and one step great-grandchild.

Funeral services for Helen C. Hopf will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 9, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
