Helen Batch, 86

Helen Batch, age 86, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 8:50 p.m., Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at The Waters of Huntingburg nursing center in Huntingburg.

She was born November 16, 1927 in Dubois County, Indiana to Oscar and Verona (Whitsitt) Heim.

She married Jesse B. Batch on August 12, 1944 at the Salem parsonage in Huntingburg.

Helen worked for many years as a laundromat attendant at the Holiday Laundromat in Huntingburg.

She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ and was a dedicated volunteer at the Distribution Center and Food Pantry operated by Salem Church and then Christian Ministries of Huntingburg.

Helen was preceded in death by: her husband, Jesse B. Batch, who passed away June 16, 1991; one brother, Russell Heim; and three sisters, Kathryn Sickbert, Norma Jean Hollander and Jane Heim.

She is survived by one brother, Jim (Tonya) Heim of Holland; two sisters, Mary Morris of Dale and Clara Fay (Don) Rust of Huntingburg; and by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Helen Batch will be held at 4:00 p.m., EST, Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg. The Reverend Mark West will officiate at the services.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 12:00 noon-4:00 p.m., on Saturday, the day of the funeral.
