Health department reports another Covid-19 related death, retracts one
Thursday, the Dubois County Health Department reported another death related to the coronavirus.
The total number of deaths remains at 11, an investigation into a previously counted person concluded that COVID-19 was not listed as the cause of death.
“We mourn the death and extend our prayers and sympathies to the individual’s family and friends,” said Dr. Ted Waflart, Dubois County Health Officer. “This serves as an unfortunate reminder to all of the Dubois County community about the importance of following the recommended guidelines to stop the spread of this virus and help protect our most vulnerable neighbors. We cannot stress enough for you all to wear a mask when around others, practicing social distancing, and wash your hands frequently.”
The health department also reported eight additional positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) to report. That brings the total to 587 positive cases. Of the 587 cases, 340 have reportedly recovered.
The health department also reported 4,712 test had been submitted.
The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) also announced that 970 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at ISDH, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and private laboratories. That brings to 65,253 the total number of Indiana residents known to have the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s dashboard.
A total of 2,746 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of 13 over the previous day. Another 200 probable deaths have been reported based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record. Deaths are reported based on when data are received by ISDH and occurred over multiple days.
As of today, nearly 42 percent of ICU beds and nearly 84 percent of ventilators are available across the state.
To date, tests for 735,848 unique individuals have been reported to ISDH, up from 724,238 on Wednesday.
