Harvey J. Zehr, 90, Jasper

Harvey J. Zehr, 90, Jasper, passed away at 8:17 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at Brookside Village in Jasper.

Harvey was born on March 4, 1926, in Dubois, Indiana to George and Barbara (Seitz) Zehr. He married Louise Hemmerlein on January 3, 1948 in St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Dubois.

Harvey retired as an accountant for the Dubois Rural Electric Cooperative after 45 years of service. Harvey was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Dubois. He enjoyed farming, hunting, Indiana University Sports, and spending time with his family and dogs.

He is survived by his wife, Lousie Zehr of Jasper; two daughters, Brenda Schmett and husband David of Huntingburg and Karen Zehr-Miller and husband Bruce of Stendel; one son, Mark Zehr and wife Kim of Jasper; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren

Preceding him in death was one sister; Eldena Otto; and five brothers; George, Chester, Warren, Wellmert, and Vic Zehr.

Funeral services for Harvey J. Zehr will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Dubois with burial to follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Dubois. The Rev. John Sterrett will officiate.

Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Dubois.
