Harold Lee Wright, 78, Jasper

Harold Lee Wright, 78, of Jasper, passed away surrounded by family at 8:40 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.

Harold was born in Paoli, Ind., on November 8, 1945, to Wayne and Theda (McDonald) Wright. 

He married Eileen Laake on August 29, 1970, at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Ferdinand, Indiana.

He was a 1963 graduate of Jasper High School.

Harold was a United States Army veteran who served in Germany from 1966 to 1968.

He worked as a Brazer for North American Carbide for 52 years.

He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, where he was an usher, the American Legion Post #147, the Dubois County Art Guild and Dubois County Archery Club.

Harold was a well-known artist, who enjoyed creating, teaching, and showing his art; it was a hobby that brought him much joy. He enjoyed fishing and keeping his yard and home at the lake pristine. He also loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen Wright of Jasper; three children, Brian Wright of Jasper, Emily (Bryan) Poerio of Franklin, Tenn., and Aundrea (Michael) Ludlow of Santa Claus; six grandchildren, Anna and Alexander Poerio, and Lauren (Asher) Finch, Christian, Benjamin and Noah Ludlo; one sister, Louise Stewart of Jasper; one sister-in-law, Janice Wright of Jasper.

Preceding him in death are his parents, one brother, Kenny Wright, and one brother-in-law, Clyde Stewart.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Harold L. Wright will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 12, 2024, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow in Enlow Cemetery in Jasper, Indiana. The American Legion Post #147 will conduct military gravesite rites.

A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana, and one hour before services from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church on Monday. Holy Family Parish will pray a rosary at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
