Hanging with the Huntingburg Fire Department

Big sister Ariana Miranda, 10, helped her brother, Adrian, 5, suit up at Saturday’s Huntingburg Community Family Day hosted by the Huntingburg Fire Department.

The second annual Community Family Day was a success for the Huntingburg Volunteer Fire Department.

Kids and families received new bicycle helmets before traversing an obstacle course complete with ramps and hills on bikes provided by REM.

There were also drone demonstrations, a scavenger hunt through the fire trucks on display and a place to try out some firefighting gear.

Amber Kramer helped her daughter, Sloane, through the obstacle course Saturday morning. INDOT donated the purple bicycle helmets to the event, and many children went home with one.
Oakland Cooper, 6, relaxed on the bounce house Saturday afternoon at the Community Family Day hosted by the Huntingburg Volunteer Fire Department.
Firefighter Cole Meyer demonstrated a drone used for inspections of homes that are too dangerous for firefighters to enter. Meyer is one of two certified drone operators on the fire department.
Chris Lee helped his daughter, Cortlyn, traverse the bicycle rodeo course set up in the Memorial parking lot.
Huntingburg Volunteer Firefighter Jason Beadles assisted Nathaniel Ilgen with his glove as he geared up.
