Handgun Permit Application changes
The Huntingburg Police Department announced changes to the requirements for fingerprinting of handgun permit applicants.
On January 1, 2014, The Indiana State Police began processing all fingerprints through the Automated Fingerprint Identification System. In the past, when fingerprints did not meet the control standards, those fingerprints were returned to the police department and a reprint of the applicant was necessary. This caused a delay in the applicant receiving their handgun permit.
To help reduce this problem, starting March 10, 2014, the Huntingburg Police Department will no longer print applicants on paper cards. Instead, residents of the City of Huntingburg will need to schedule electronic fingerprinting through MorphoTrust.
Representatives with MorphoTrust are in Jasper on Tuesdays from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Residents can call MorphoTrust directly at 1-877-472-6971 to schedule their appointment or they may do it electronically when completing the online permit application.
For any questions regardiung this new procedure, please contact the Huntingburg Police Department at 683-3003.
