Habitat makes way for new home; now they need a family

Habitat for Humanity built a home next to this house at 1491 West 5th Avenue in 2011 and had an eye on improving the neighborhood.
This home had been abandoned for several years and had gone to tax sale several times.
According to Habitat for Humanity, it continued to fall into disrepair and as Habitat board member Steve Lukemeyer said in an e-mail, “The stars lined up because the owner of the house agreed to deed it to Habitat; Knies Construction agreed to do the demo work at a discounted rate; Velpen Disposal agreed to waive their trucking fees to haul away the debris; and Jasper Engines agreed to pay the bill for both of these companies.”
Habitat for Humanity is looking for candidates for a home and would like to build it at this location in Jasper.
