Jasper Endows Today and Tomorrow, a giving circle at Jasper Engines, donated $2,500 to help SoberDuco purchase specialized flooring for the new location. Garrison said the donation is about half the amount they need to update the floors.More photos below.
SoberDuco recently began hosting its free group workouts in a new location in Jasper.
Started by Scott Garrison in 2022, the group dedicated to providing a sober, active community had been meeting at a donated space in Ferdinand, local parks and at the Garrisons’ Ferdinand home. Now, SoberDuco meets in a space connected to the Dubois County Museum at 2704 Newton Street–the entrance is in the back corner of the building facing Ruler Foods.
Part of The Phoenix, a national nonprofit dedicated to creating active communities around sobriety, SoberDuco meets at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday evenings for group workout sessions. On Saturdays, the group meets in the early morning for a ruck and hosts another workout at 9:30 a.m.
With the move into Jasper, Garrison hopes more people will attend the weekly workouts.
The public is invited to attend. The only cost is 48 hours of sobriety. Sign-up is available on The Phoenix app here.
If you would like to become involved in supporting the group, contact Scott at soberduco@gmail.com.
