Greater Jasper Schools seeking assistance feeding students

Dear Community Partner,

As you may be aware, the ongoing federal government shutdown has temporarily suspended benefits for families who rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Many of our students and their families are directly affected, creating an immediate need for support with basic food and hygiene items.

Greater Jasper Consolidated Schools is working to ensure that no student goes without essential needs during this difficult time. We are partnering with Parents Supporting Education to organize a district-wide collection of non-perishable food and hygiene items to assist families who are most impacted.

We are asking for your help.

Requested items include:

  • Canned fruits, vegetables, soups, beans, canned chicken, and pasta meals
  • Boxed meals, ready-cooked rice, macaroni and cheese, and cereals
  • Peanut butter, jelly, granola bars, oatmeal, and snacks
  • Toiletries such as toothpaste, soap, shampoo, deodorant, and feminine hygiene products
  • Paper goods and cleaning supplies

Items can be delivered to the GJCS administration office at 1520 St. Charles Street during regular school hours.

Tax-deductible Monetary Contributions may be made to Parents Supporting Education, “Feeding School Families Project” via Venmo, online (https://www.parentssupportingeducation.org), or by check or cash mailed to 1713 Scarlet Oak Drive. 100% of donated funds will be used to purchase essential items for families in need.

Your generosity and partnership ensure that every child in our community is cared for—not only in the classroom but beyond it. Together, we can help our students and families navigate this temporary hardship with dignity and support.

Thank you for your continued commitment to our students and schools.

With gratitude, Tracy A. Lorey, Ph.D. Superintendent Greater Jasper Consolidated Schools
