Greater Jasper Schools meeting
The Greater Jasper School Board met Monday night and took the following actions.
– Held a public hearing on Superintendent Dr. Tracey Lorey’s contract. No one came forward to speak so the hearing was closed. The board will vote to approve the contract next month. The contract is the same as last year’s.
– Approved a request by Dr. Lorey to purchase two buses. The first for $103,919.00 for an 84-passenger bus and the second for $57,697.00 for a 14-passenger activity bus. The funds will be appropriated from the rainy day fund. The buses are being purchased from Kerlin Bus Sales & Leasing of Silver Lake, Indiana.
– Heard that prep work for the re-seeding of the football field at Alumni Stadium and the soccer fields is beginning. The fields will be closed to the public from May 26th through August the 12thto allow the sod to take root in preparation for the fall sports season. Signs will be posted to alert the public to avoid the area until August. The two fields are being re-seeded after a decision by the school board to hold off the installation of a new turf field at Alumni stadium until next year, thereby allowing the Jasper Football Boosters Club more time to raise money for the project.
– Re-appointed Mark Kunkel to the Jasper Library Board.
