Grant, donations put lifesaving devices in Jasper police vehicles

The Jasper Police Department will be able to outfit each patrol vehicle with a portable automatic defibrillator (AED) thanks to several donations and a grant it recently received.

“This is a tremendous benefit for the City of Jasper, and Dubois County,” said Chief Nathan Schmitt. “This partnership will put life saving devices all over this community. They will be in neighborhoods, at sporting events, stores, and many other places officers take their vehicles during normal patrols.”

The department received grants from the Dubois County Community Foundation’s Fund for Dubois County and Bill Fleck Legacy Endowment ($27,600.00), as well as donations from James and Patricia Thyen ($10,000.00) and the Victory Assembly of God ($1,500.00).

“We want to thank everyone for their continued support of the Jasper Police Department and law enforcement in the City of Jasper and Dubois County,” said Schmitt.
