Governor Eric Holcomb directs flags to half-staff to honor victims of Sutherland Springs church attack
In accordance with an order by the President of the United States, Governor Eric J. Holcomb is directing flags statewide to be flown at half-staff to honor the victims of the senseless and horrific attack in Sutherland Springs, Texas. Flags should be flown at half-staff until sunset on November 9, 2017.
Gov. Holcomb also asks businesses and residents statewide to lower their flags to half-staff until November 9, 2017, in the wake of this tragedy.

Did I misread this – maybe a play on redundancy – but aren’t the flags of “businesses and residents statewide” the same as “flags statewide” or why did the gov have to ask twice for the same flags to be flown at half-staff?
That said – sorry, gov – but he’s wrong and the president is also wrong. With all respect to this latest shooting tragedy, the victims, families, et al, our leaders and office-holders from the top down have been getting it wrong way too often and for too long with when and for what to fly our flag at half-staff. Obama was exceptionally the worst about it and Trump doesn’t know any better, but we’ve so diluted, dumbed-down and politically corrected our nation’s education, history and traditions, that others just follow the leader (i.e., lemmings, blind leading the blind, etc). Yes, the CIC by the power of that position indeed can ignore our flag code protocol – and they’ve been doing a good job of it.
