Glenda Faye Shipman, 77, of Dubois, Ind., entered into eternal rest on February 25, 2026, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper, Indiana, where she called home the past three years.

She was born in French Lick, Ind., on January 23, 1949, to George and Margaret (Schultz) Hinkle.

Glenda married James “Jim” Shipman, whom she called the love of her life, on October 23rd, 1971, and he preceded her in death on February 5th, 2023.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Glenda was a proud 1967 graduate of Springs Valley High School and helped plan reunions over the years. She earned a Business Degree from Vincennes University Jasper. After 35 dedicated years as an instrumental part in computer automation with an incredible civilian personnel department, she retired from CRANE, where she was a mentor to many. In retirement, she enjoyed the slower pace of life, doing what she wanted. She was an avid reader, card player, casino trip enthusiast, genealogist, knitter, crossword and word-search enthusiast. Glenda was a supporter of her children and grandchildren, enjoying her family and friends and entertaining them whenever possible.

Glenda is survived by her daughters, Megan Betz (Josh) of Indianapolis and Miranda Krieg (Adam) of Tell City; sister, Barbara Young (Bill) of Flower Mound, Texas; brother, George Hinkle, Jr. (Cindy) of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Cohen, Macy and Brenna Betz; Callista, Emmett, Lenora and August Krieg.

She loved her nieces and nephews, cousins, in-laws and all her friends; she called her chosen family throughout all the years. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to St. Charles Health Campus and Heart to Heart Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
