Glen Lee “Bud” Sakel, 83

Glen Lee “Bud” Sakel, age 83, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 5:25 p.m., Monday, February 18, 2013 at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.
He was born December 1, 1929 in Huntingburg, Indiana to Elmo August and Florence Hilda Caroline (Overbeck) Sakel.
He was united in marriage to VaRena L. Emerson on October 8, 1950 at the Methodist Church in Huntingburg.
Mr. Sakel worked for the First Bank of Huntingburg for 47 years. He retired in 1995 as Bank President and was a member of the Board of Directors. He was also a member of the Region 8 Indiana Bankers Association and sat on the Board of Directors for the Indiana Bankers Association, was Secretary and Treasurer of Fairmount Cemetery Association for 50 years, was a member of the Kiwanis Club and Jaycees, and a member of the Huntingburg United Methodist Church. Bud was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. He was preceded in death by: one infant son, Bradley Scott Sakel.

by eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Glen “Bud” Sakel will be held at 11:00 a.m., E.S.T., on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Huntingburg United Methodist Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Fairmount Cemetery (Huntingburg). Rev. Paula Young Mayberry will officiate the services. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post #2366 Memorial Detail.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m., on Friday; and also at the Huntingburg United Methodist Church from 10:00-11:00 a.m., on Saturday morning, prior to the funeral. Memorial contributions may be made to: The Huntingburg United Methodist Church or The American Parkinson Disease Association.
