Gladys Marie Steinkamp, 101

Gladys Marie Steinkamp, 101, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 9:55 p.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2014, in the Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.
She was born at Petersburg, Indiana November 10, 1913 to Clyde and Ethel (Higgins) Howell. She married Elmer William “Doc” Steinkamp on March 10, 1945 at Indianapolis, Indiana. He preceded her in death on May 27, 2001.
She was a graduate of Petersburg High School and graduated from business college in Washington, D.C. then attended Indiana University.
Gladys was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Jasper, served as financial secretary of the church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.
She was a previous member of 20th Century Literary Club. She enjoyed her bridge club, coin club, rose gardening, playing piano, and completing crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her son, David Steinkamp of Jasper; three daughters, Annie Meeks and husband, Robert, of St. John, Ind., Sarah Krodel and husband, Greg, of Jasper, and Lynne Ehrgott and husband, Roberts, of Bloomington; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death besides her husband are two sisters, Dorothy Kettlelhut and Hazel Stonecipher.
Funeral services for Gladys Steinkamp will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 20, 2014, in Trinity United Church of Christ in Jasper with burial to follow in Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg. The Rev. Jane Hilllman will officiate.
Friends may call from noon on Saturday until the 2:00 p.m. service time at Trinity United Church of Christ in Jasper.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ or Young Life of Dubois County.
