Girls on the Run of Southwest Indiana spring coaching opportunities
Girls on the Run of Southwest Indiana’s spring season coach registration is now open.
Girls on the Run is a physical activity-based, positive youth development program that inspires girls in 3rd through 8th grade to be joyful, healthy
and confident. The eight-week program incorporates physical activity to teach critical life skills, encourage personal development, foster meaningful connections with others as well as contribution to the community –activities and skills that are necessary and valuable in both National and personal recovery efforts.
Volunteer coaches will utilize a structured curriculum to engage teams of girls in fun, interactive lessons. Teams meet twice a week for 75-90 minutes and the program culminates with all girls completing a physical activity challenge/5k event.
Girls on the Run of Southwest Indiana has served over 1,000 girls at 10 sites in Dubois and Vanderburgh counties since 2015. Volunteers provide critical leadership and the non-profit organization is currently seeking coaches to
facilitate the program.
“We had such an exceptional team of GOTR girls this past season, but we had one little gal who accomplished more than even SHE could ever imagine. It was inspiring to watch her blossom over the course of the season, from being very quiet, passive and unconfident to an outgoing,
engaged and confident girl,” stated one GOTRSWIN Coach.
Coaches do not need to be athletes but are required to be a minimum of eighteen years old to serve as an assistant or twenty-one years old to serve as a head coach.
All volunteer coaches must complete a background check and attend a training session.
