Girls on the Run celebrates first season

Jasper — Girls on the Run of Dubois County will celebrate the completion of their first season with a 5K run this Saturday.
The celebratory race is being held in conjunction with the Jasper Wildcat Runaway 5K hosted by the Jasper Cross Country Boosters. The race is at 8 a.m. at the north side of the Jasper High School and registration is still open for entrants.
According to Sarah Leonard, Girls on the Run Council Director, this 5k will be unlike any other running event. It will include a celebration of and for the girls who completed the 10-week season of the Girls on the Run program. This event marks the end of their season in which the girls learned about the importance of taking care of their emotional and physical health as well as the community around them.
“We have 65 girls from each of the schools in our community,” said Sarah Leonard, Council Director. “It brings us so much joy to see our participants cross the finish line with their families, coaches, teachers and the community members who have come out to run or walk and support the Jasper Wildcat Cross Country team.”
