Gilbert C. Schwindel, Jr., age 79, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 12:05 a.m., Friday, February 15, 2013 at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand.
He was born March 6, 1933 in St. Meinrad, Indiana to Gilbert J. Schwindel, Sr. and Ella (Meiring) Schwindel. He married Carol J. Bosler on August 21, 1952 at the St. Meinrad Arch Abbey in St. Meinrad, Indiana.
Gilbert worked at Kimball/Jasper Laminates where he retired. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Huntingburg V.F.W. Post #2366, and served as a Boatswain’s Mate in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by: one brother, Eugene Schwindel.

- Jacob Schwindel – Henderson, KY
- Michael Schwindel – Lexington, KY
Funeral services for Gilbert C. Schwindel, Jr. will be held at 10:00 a.m., E.S.T., on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery (Huntingburg). Military graveside rites will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post #2366 Memorial Detail.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m., on Monday. A parish rosary prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m., Monday evening, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: The Lange-Fuhs Cancer Center or St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
