Gervase “Jerp” H. Becher, 86

Gervase “Jerp” H. Becher, 86, of Jasper, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2015, at his son’s residence in Casa Grande, Arizona

Jerp was born on September 26, 1928 in St. Meinrad to Robert and Frances (Ruxer) Becher. He married Phyllis “Jane” Schaaf on October 30, 1952, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana. She preceded him in death on February 21, 2013.

Jerp retired from the Becher-Kluesner Funeral Home where he worked for many years.

He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Jasper Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post #147, VFW Post #673, Ireland Sportsman Club and served in the navy. He enjoyed card playing, boating and spending time with his family.

He is survived by two sisters, Dottie Brosmer and Mert Stallwood, both of Jasper; three sons, Glenn Becher and his wife Barb of Casa Grande, Ariz., Phil Becher and his wife Marla of Jasper, and Dean Becher and his wife Jacque of Evansville; seven grandchildren, Chris Becher and his wife Charlene, Abby Donahue and her husband Chris
Dustin Becher, Brittany Becher- Dunlop and her husband Barry, Brad Becher, Kelli Bohannon and her husband Craig, Allison Becher; four great-grandchildren, Haley Becher, Samantha Becher, Ashlynn Bohannon, and Michael Donahue; two step-great-grandchildren, Bryce and Caleigh Bohannon.

Preceding him in death besides his wife were one brother, Tommy Becher and one sister, Anne Krodel.

Funeral Services for Gervase H. “Jerp” Becher will be held at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Friday, March 20th, 2015 with burial to follow at a later date. V.F.W Post #673 will conduct military rights.

Friends may call from from 2-7 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2015, at the Becher Kluesner downtown chapel in Jasper.
