German American Bank issues statement about recent scam calls
German American Bank issued a statement regarding scammers making calls using the company’s name to bilk victims out of account information.
According to GAB, these scammers auto dial thousands of random phone numbers, using the German American name as the caller identity, and entice victims to respond with their personal and private information. Since these calls are randomly auto dialed, these scammers do not hold any private, personal information about GAB customers. They only gain information when victims respond.
The company recommends that if you have responded, be sure to call them immediately at 800-482-1314. “Since we are highly aware of these calls, there is no need for you to call us to inform us that you have received a scam call,” they said on the GAB website. “We only need to hear from anyone who responded to the call with their private, personal information.”
GAB is assuring everyone that the scammers have not obtained any of private, personal information from the company. “We have contacted the proper authorities to help us attempt to shut down these scammers. Your help in not responding to these calls is very important.”
