Geraldine “Gerry” Seger, 86, of Jasper, Indiana passed away at 11:57 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2014, at Brookside Village in Jasper.

She was born January 30, 1928 at Whitesville, Kentucky to Ivo and Maudwina (Higdon) Howard. She married Charles Seger October 15, 1949 at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic church, Whitesville, Kentucky.

Gerry was first and foremost a homemaker but she also was a cook at Holy Family School and volunteered for many charities and church activities. She also enjoyed cooking, reading, playing cards and walking.

She is a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Blessed Virgin Sodality and Daughters of Isabella. Also a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Chapter # 77 of Dubois County.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Seger; two sons, Glenn R. Seger and his wife, Karen, of Bishop, Ga. and Dave A. Seger and his wife, Laurel, of Jasper; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Seger of Jasper; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; sister, Delphine Hardesty of Owensboro, Ky.

Preceding her in death is one son Ronald J. Seger who died July 15, 2014. Also one brother, Celestine Howard and two sisters, Mary Edelen, Rose Payne.

Funeral services for Gerry Seger will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2014, in Holy Family Catholic Church with entombment to follow in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Rosary will be held at 1:45 p.m. by the Blessed Virgin Sodality and the D of I’s. Memorial service at 4:00 p.m. by the DAV Auxiliary Chapter # 77 of Dubois County at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, St. Meinrad Archabbey or to a favorite charity.
