Gerald “Jerry” Newman, 53, Jasper, Indiana, passed on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, in Bakersfield, Cal.
Jerry was born on May 5, 1963, to Kathryn (Whitehead) Greer. He married Diana Loeffler-Vonderheide on June 27, 2003.
He was an electrician and a member of the Local I.B.E.W. 648 since 1985. Jerry traveled extensively throughout his career. In 2004, he spent a year working in Iraq supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. Wherever he went, Jerry never met a stranger. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
He was a member of Redemption Christian Church of Jasper,
He enjoyed fishing, cooking, riding his motorcycle and had a love for animals.
He is survived by his wife, Diana Newman of Jasper; son, Sgt. Brandon Stuhlmueller of Virginia; stepdaughters, Vanessa Balsmeyer and husband Scott of Holland and Heather Siddons of Huntingburg; mother, Kathryn Greer of Fairfield, Ohio; seven step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; sister, Debra Miller and husband Roy of Ross, Ohio; niece, Amber Langevin of Ross, Ohio; nephew, Staff Sgt. Chris Langevin, who is deployed overseas.
Preceding him in death was his stepfather, Richard D. Greer.
Funeral services for Jerry Newman will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2016, at Redemption Christian Church of Jasper, with burial to follow in Enlow Cemetery in Jasper. Rev. Darrel Land will officiate.
Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
