Gerald “Jerry” Mehringer, 79, Tell City
Gerald “Jerry” Mehringer, 79, of Tell City, passed away on April 20, 2026, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.

He was born on March 13, 1947, in Jasper, Indiana, to the late Linus and Clara (Burger) Mehringer. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his siblings, James and Donnie Mehringer, and Mary Ann Bohnert.
Jerry was a 1965 graduate of Jasper High School. He went on to attend Indiana State University, where he earned his degree in marketing in 1969.
On June 28, 1969, he was united in marriage to Barbara Johnson. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and community. Jerry spent the majority of his career in real estate sales with Key Associates of Perry County, where he later became the owner.
Jerry had a deep love for animals and was an avid fan of Indiana University athletics and the St. Louis Cardinals. He was also an enthusiastic collector of baseball cards. A devoted member of St. Paul Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, Jerry was also a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity during his college years.
He was passionate about youth and community sports, coaching tennis at Tell City High School for 11 years, refereeing basketball for over 20 years, and coaching both Little League and Babe Ruth baseball. His dedication left a lasting impact on many young athletes in the community.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara; his son, Dr. Brian Mehringer and his wife, Lorie, of Monrovia, Indiana; his sisters, Imelda “Mel” (Ron) Snyder and Elaine (Gary) Streicher, both of Jasper; and his grandchildren, Devin and Riley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at St. Paul Catholic Church, a private burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Tell City. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until Mass at the church.
