George T. Matthews, 87
George T. Matthews, age 87, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, April 21, 2012 at his residence.
He was born September 22, 1924 in Montgomery, Indiana to Vincent and Bernadette (Kidwell) Matthews. He was united in marriage to Virginia R. Mundy on April 21, 1949 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg (Editors: marriage date is correct, the day & month is the same as the death date). George retired from JOFCO, Inc. where he worked for 43 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg, the YMI Club, and the V.F.W. Post #2366. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the 208th Military Police Company. He was preceded in death by: his wife, Virginia R. Matthews, who died March 19, 2011; four brothers – Charlie, Austin, Jim and Tom Matthews; and one grandson.

by (9) grandchildren and (9) great grandchildren.
Funeral services for George T. Matthews will be held at 10:00 a.m., E.D.T., on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Huntingburg. The V.F.W. Post #2366 Memorial Detail will conduct military graveside rites.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday. A parish rosary followed by a YMI prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Tuesday afternoon, at the funeral home.
