George Satkamp, Jr., 73

George Satkamp, Jr., age 73, of Winslow, Indiana, passed away at 9:10 a.m., Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

He was born June 17, 1940 in Huntingburg, Indiana to George and Alfreida (Partenheimer) Satkamp.

Mr. Satkamp was a graduate of the Huntingburg High School Class of 1958. He served in the United States Army as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division out of Fort Braggs, NC from 1958-1961.

He was retired from the Southern Railway and was a member of the V.F.W., Fraternal Order of Eagles, Masons, and the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by: his wife, Cathy Satkamp; one brother, Eugene Satkamp; two half-brothers, Chester Satkamp and Robert Astrike; and one half-sister, Jewel Satkamp Elshoff.

He is survived by:

One half-brother,

Jack (wife, June) Astrike of Jasper, IN

Five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation for George Satkamp, Jr. will be held at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 4:00-7:00 p.m., E.D.T., on Friday, July 19, 2013. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday evening following the visitation, at the Nass & Son Chapel. Mr. Satkamp arranged to have his body donated to the Indiana University Science Center.
