George A. Oser, 79, Ferdinand

George A. Oser, 79, of Ferdinand, passed away on Monday, August 29, at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper.

George was born October 13, 1942, in Ferdinand to Edward and Olivia (Meyer) Oser. He married Henrietta Kerstiens on July 16, 1966, in Mary Help of Christians Church in Mariah Hill.

George was a member of Mary Help of Christians Church and St. Meinrad American Legion Post 366. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and being with his family.

George is survived by his wife, Henrietta of Ferdinand; four sons, Larry (Cynthia) Oser of Bristow, Ryan (Sandy Blessinger) Oser of French Lick, Dean (Tracy) Oser of Santa Claus and Kevin Oser of Ferdinand; three daughters, Gina Knieriem of Dubois, Karen (Jason) Eigel of Bristow and Mindy VanHoosier of Newtonville; a brother, Leroy (Marlene) Oser of Siberia; three sisters, Rita Buechlein of Huntingburg, Virginia (Shelton) Hubert of Tell City and Rosemary Downing of Russellville, OH; fourteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

George was preceded in death by his brothers, Jim, Eddie, Walter and Bob Oser; sisters, Henrietta Bartell, Marge Martin, Delores Carnahan and a sister in infancy, Louise.

Funeral services will be Thursday, September 1, 2022, at 10 a.m. CDT in Mary Help of Christians Church in Mariah Hill. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. St. Meinrad Legion Post 366 will conduct military graveside rights. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. CDT and also Thursday from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. CDT at the funeral home.
