Genevieve M. Bell, Age 97, passed away at 1:52 p.m. Monday (May 28, 2012) at the Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.

She was born on January 19, 1915 in Jasper to Florian and Caroline (Giesler) Schuetter. She married Dennis M Bell June 29, 1939 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. He preceded her in death January 4, 2004.

Genevieve Bell along with her late husband were part-owners and operated the former Flick’s Drug Store on the Square in Jasper for many years.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she served as Eucharist minister as well as at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center and nursing homes in Jasper. She also was a member of the St. Ann’s Society – Daughters of Isabella and V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.

She organized the first women bowling league in 1939 and served as its president and or secretary treasurer for many years.

Three grandchildren, Tim, Tom and Mike Bell as well as eight great grandchildren.

Also numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death besides her husband is one son Kenneth Bell, who died December 13, 2005). Also preceding her in death were three sisters, Lorena Graehler, Rita Ingram, Mildred Richardson and six brothers, Alphonse, Daniel, Arnold, Marcus, Robert and Eugene Schuetter.

Funeral services for Genevieve M. Bell will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday (June 1, 2012) at Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday (May 31, 2012) at the Becher – Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.

Rosary will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday by the D of I’s and the St. Ann’s Society at the funeral Home. V.F.W. Auxiliary Memorial service will be at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church – Northwood Retirement Community Activity Services or a favorite Charity.
