Genevieve J. Smith, age 90, of Birdseye, Indiana, passed away at 2:30 a.m., Friday, May 4, 2012 at the Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.

She was born April 10, 1922 in Birdseye, Indiana to Andrew and Florence (Hobbs) Jackson. Jenny was a member of the Birdseye Christian Church and retired from General Electric in Tell City. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Arthur C. Smith, who passed away on February 21, 2002; five brothers – John, James, Marcus, Devere and Rudolph Jackson; and three sisters – Amy Smith, Norma Eckert and Dorothy Mae Jackson.

She is survived by:

Two daughters,

  • Linda Cook – Milltown, IN
  • Cathy Newton – Birdseye, IN

One son,

  • David Smith – Birdseye, IN

by (8) grandchildren and (9) great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Genevieve J. Smith will be held at 10:00 a.m., E.D.T., on Monday, May 7, 2012 at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at the Birdseye Cemetery in Birdseye, Indiana.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday.
